Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to identify business process orientation (BPO), its characteristics and maturity assessment of business process orientation based on survey results. The survey confirmed that in organizations in Poland the maturity of BPO is at the average level. It means that these organizations have not achieved BPO yet and they are going to reinforce it. Simultaneously it turns out that service organizations (by contrast with production organizations), with higher annual income and bigger in size demonstrate a higher level of BPO maturity. The hypothesis that organizations with longer period of certification show a higher level of BPO maturity was rejected.
