Summary/Abstract: The properties in Elbląg, which Hilary Pracz-Praczynski had taken over for pastoral use in 1945, were appropriated by the state in 1962. The denominational administration did not give permission for the expansion of existing churches or the construction of new ones in the city. The authorities granted requests only when it served the interests of the state. The Diocese of Warmia was also not allowed to establish new parishes in Elbląg. The third Catholic parish in Elbląg was not erected until 1974.
