Summary/Abstract: Previous research on emotional intelligence has mostly focused on a unidimensional approach, but recently there has been increasing attention given to its multidimensional nature, which allows for the examination of specific relationships with various outcomes. However, both perspectives have their limitations. By focusing on overall emotional intelligence, specific effects of its individual dimensions are not explored, while a multidimensional approach requires more complex measures and statistical analyses. Integrating both approaches will enable a more comprehensive understanding of emotional intelligence by examining the individual and collective effects of its dimensions on job satisfaction. The study was conducted among 275 employees from two insurance companies operating in the Republic of Serbia. A structured questionnaire was used and distributed in February 2023. The questionnaire consisted of three parts. The first part included demographic information about the participants. The second part of the questionnaire comprised 16 items measuring emotional intelligence as an ability (WLEIS), while the third part contained questions about job satisfaction. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method was used to analyze the primary data. Based on the research results, a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence (the combined effect of all dimensions) and job satisfaction was observed. In other words, the results suggest that the overall emotional intelligence of a leader, rather than their individual emotional abilities, is a key influencing factor on employee satisfaction.
