Summary/Abstract: As a community, the Daesitiates are tied to the area of Upper Bosnia and the Lašva River basin. Their territory border with other Illyrian communities, such as the Dindars, the Maezaei, and others. In the area of the Western Balkans, the Daesitiates were a notable cultural and economic factor, and the proof of it is still visible in the remains of material culture. Several ancient sources mention these people as the ones who played a significant role in the resistance to the Roman conquest of Illyricum. The most significant contribution in the resistance was made during the Great Illyrian revolt, from AD 6 to 9, in which they played a leading role. The primary focus of this paper shall be on that moment of their history. In addition, attention will be paid to their internal organization, existing institutions, as well as the situation immediately after the establishment of Roman rule.
