Summary/Abstract: Everything that exists – the visible and the invisible world – according to Christian teaching, came from God, who had created it out of nothing. The Christian view creatio ex nihilo (Latin for „creation out of nothing“) refers to the statement that the Universe, the all space-time, was created by the free act of God out of nothing, not from any pre-existing substance or the Divine Essence itself. The holy fathers and teachers of the Church reveal in detail the doctrine about the creation of the world and man from nothing, in the sense that the reason for the existence of the world – of substance and form – is the absolute will of God. They defend the idea of the creation of the world and object to the Epicurean teaching; against the dualistic view and against the gnostic-pantheistic view. All of them have pointed out that such views are incompatible with the concept of God and the world.
