Summary/Abstract: The study aims to indicate the role of the eco-design process in the im- plementation of the ecology concept on the example of the automotive industry, which in recent years has been implementing pro-environmental solutions (eco- innovations) in production processes. The study defines eco-design and indicates good practices in the field of environmental innovations (eco-innovations) in the automotive industry. On the basis of a questionnaire survey conducted on a group of 120 people, knowledge on eco-design and eco-innovation issues in the automotive industry was acquired. The research shows that three-quarters of the respondents know what eco-design is all about and can define it correctly. However, this level of knowledge doesn’t tell us anything about how environmentally friendly the respondents are. Seventy per cent of the respondents wouldn’t buy an electric vehicle, and forty per cent don’t want to use vehicles made of eco-friendly materials, including post-recycled materials.
