RECONSTRUCTION OF BURIAL MOUNDS. ARCHAEOLOGY, CONSERVATION AND SITE EXPOSITION

Summary/Abstract: The main subject addressed in the article is the reconstruction of burial mounds on Bulgarian territory as well as its relation to the cultural and archaeological landscape. The importance of these structures is linked with the Thracian funeral traditions. Universal principles of heritage management are used as basis in highlighting good practices when tackling the main subject. That was done on the basis of Bulgarian legislation and international documents relating to fundamental principles in heritage management. Burial mound reconstruction is analyzed through the following main themes: archaeology, conservation and site exhibition.
