Summary/Abstract: The research addresses the psychological aspects of academic stress and the potential of personal adaptation in first-year students. Academic stress is an integral part of student life. However, the stress experienced by students can affect the efficiency of acquiring, applying, and processing knowledge, which hinders academic performance. It is shown that the main reasons for the manifestation of academic stress in students are: excessive load of study subjects and the inability to systematize knowledge, poor academic performance, dissatisfaction with the profession, irrational time planning, unfavorable learning conditions, loss of interest in learning, conflicts with colleagues or teachers. The biggest psycho-emotional load on students that triggers acute stress is the study session. Resilience to stress determines the adaptive potential of the student, which consists of neuropsychic stability, moral normativity, and communicative potential.
