Summary/Abstract: Lubomír Štrougal (1924–2023), widely recognized as the long-serving chairman of the federal normalization government, initially held various governmental roles. In the 1960s, he served as the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management before taking on the position of Interior Minister. His tenure in the latter role became the subject of multiple investigations by Czech justice post-1989. Accusations ranged from obstructing the punishment of State Security (StB) members responsible for deaths in the late 1940s to incidents at the state border. The last criminal investigation against him was terminated in 2022, citing his alleged inability to comprehend the purpose of legal proceedings. Štrougal's death in February of this year ultimately concluded any legal proceedings against him.
