Summary/Abstract: In the present study, a new approach to the acquisition of Lithuanian morphology and phonotactics is introduced (W. U. Dressler, 2006, ms.). The interaction of phonotactics (consonant clusters) with morphology (morpheme boundaries) in first language acquisition is analysed. When analysing morphonotactics acquisition, all consonant clusters were divided into several categories: initial, medial and finai consonant clusters, and consonant clusters with morpheme boundaries vs. those without morpheme boundaries. These groups of consonant clusters in child language are analysed. Some consonant clusters in child language are pronounced without any problems, like Ib, mb, mp. Meanwhile, other clusters are acquired by children not always so easily, like sk, nt, st. The analysis of these clusters indicates what it is easier for the child to acquire the clusters when they are within morpheme boundaries of the words.
