Responsibility and the ontologies of education

Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on different approaches to the category of responsibility and the resulting differences in ontologies of education. The ontology based on the juridical responsibility has a preference for obedience as a measure of “good upbringing”, whereas the ontology founded on responsibility understood in terms of solidarity leans towards the necessity of cooperation between responsible individuals, as well as towards the necessity of broad- ening the scope of responsibility.
