Summary/Abstract: As it was first imagined at a European level, the free movement of workers consists in the elimination of any citizenship related discrimination in what employment is concerned, but also in terms of remuneration and working and employment conditions. In addition to that, the European workers have the right to accept job offers, to move freely within the country, to settle there for work and to remain after the conclusion of the contract under certain conditions. The fundamental right of free movement of the workers has been enshrined in various regulations and directives since the 1960s. In order to support the free movement of workers, the European Union has made considerable efforts to facilitate the mobility of workers. Cross-border seasonal workers enjoy a broad set of rights, but given the temporary nature of their work, they can be more vulnerable to precarious working and living conditions. The Coronavirus pandemic has given more visibility to these conditions, and in some cases exacerbated them. In some cases such problems can increase the risk of COVID-19 clusters.
