Characteristics of ukrainian and polish official names of macroscopic fungi motivated by plant names

Summary/Abstract: The article aims to analyse Ukrainian names of macroscopic fungi containing plantnames in their structure. Latin and Polish nomenclatural resources served as a background forthe analysis. The nomenclatural corpus extracted from the sources comprised almost 2,000units, of which 214 were motivated by plant names or, for example, by the names of their in-dividual parts, e.g. Дубовик Кале, Підберезник синіючий, Калоцибе фіалкова, Павутинниккаштановий. The analysis proved, among other things, that, in many cases, Ukrainian officialnames of macroscopic fungi were created due to the automatic transfer of Latin names to theUkrainian language. The article also focuses on examining the morphological and syntactic structure of myconyms and analysing the derivational procedures used in creating names with phytonymic components.
