Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes popular mass-printed publications based on camp themes to reflect on portrayal of child protagonists. The text discusses such popular issues as Josef Mengele’s pseudo-scientific activities related to research on twins or the work of midwife Stanisława Leszczyńska, who cared for pregnant and postpartum women, including less current issues like those related to Roma or Jewish children. However, the key focus lies not so much on more or less accurately presented historical facts but how the depiction of camp reality and its combination with the intention to evoke specific emotions in typical readers as they are imagined by the authors.
