Summary/Abstract: Preparing young people to participate in economic life in the Polish education system has so far been carried out in secondary schools based on the Basics of Entrepreneurship. From 1 September 2023, this subject was abolished and replaced by a new one: Business and Management, which will be available for the high school leaving examination from 2027. The article’s subject is an assessment of changes in entrepreneurship education in Poland caused by the liquidation of the Basics of Entrepreneurship and its replacement with a new subject. The author aims to seek answers to two research questions: Has the scope of the content of entrepreneurship education in Polish formal education changed? Does the idea of entrepreneurship education in Poland change due to its introduction, and if so, how? The research used a literature search on the concept of entrepreneurship education, a comparative analysis of the scope of the content of the current Business and Management and the Basics of Entrepreneurship core curricula, and an analysis of labour market trends according to reports of research institutions. The research showed that the scope of the content of the basics of entrepreneurship corresponded to the educational goals, developing entrepreneurial competencies and the ability to start one’s own business. Much of the previous education content was transferred to the advanced level of Business and Management, to the loss of most students. The Business and Management course allows for developing students’ competencies to a greater extent. However, there are reservations about the advisability of implementing competencies required in corporations into school practice instead of the current development of micro-entrepreneurship.
