Summary/Abstract: RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The objective of the research was determination of the extent, to which reformed education for entrepreneurship is going to fulfil its tasks, namely: transfer of knowledge, development of entrepreneurial skills and attitudes, which students will find useful in their adult life determined by contemporary trends set out by the civilisation. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The author focused on analysing formal education on entrepreneurship according to the new core curriculum for general education. The author conducted a desk analysis of literature on education for entrepreneurship and mega-trends in civilisation and the content of the core curriculum. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The author identified the current trends in the civilisation and how they relate to education on entrepreneurship. Next, she analysed the content of entrepreneurship education in the new core curriculum to determine the degree to which it will facilitate preparing students for living in the contemporary world. The author closed the article pointing to the potential complete achievement of the objectives which correspond to civilisation trends. RESEARCH RESULTS: An analysis of the core curriculum for general education of basic entrepreneurship demonstrated that the core curriculum, viewed on a stand-alone basis, fails to deliver on the intention to prepare students for adult life, governed by contemporary civilisation trends; however, it is an important component of the process. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS: Basic entrepreneurship prepares students for the realities of the labour market, local and state administration; however, the subject does not refer to the socio-economic megatrends of the future. Such content is mainly concentrated on the core curriculum for geography. A correlation with the curriculum will complement entrepreneurial education of young people.
