THE INFLUENCE OF GERMAN POETRY ON LUCIAN BLAGA’S VERSIFICATION

Summary/Abstract: This article is dedicated to examining the influence of German poetry on Lucian Blaga's versification. He shows that Lucian Blaga created original verse forms based on German verse, particularly along the lines of “free verse” and “free rhythms”. The first examples of Blaga's poetic forms appeared in the form of free verse, which followed the model of the so-called madrigal, but, unlike the German "free verse", had neither rhyme nor stanza organization. Another verse form used by Lucian Blaga are the works constructed using the “free rhythms” technique. Two types are distinguished: the heteroictic dolnik with a regulated structure and stanza organization and the unregulated heteroictic dolnik, in which lines of different lengths and meters are combined into astrophic poetic forms with unrhymed lines and alternating anacrusis, with a colloquial intonation.
