Summary/Abstract: In the following essay, I analyze various uses of the term ‘love’ in science, philosophy, and theology. In science, the term is employed to quantitatively describe the behavioral parameters of love. In philosophy it is utilized to analyze love on an ontological level, considering it as a virtue of both the individual and the community. In theology, the term is used to propose a virtue that institutes ontology itself. I argue that it is the freedom and responsibility of each person to orient themselves in a coherent manner regarding the choice of these uses.
