Summary/Abstract: The article documents the impact of basic subsidies valid in the programming period 2007-2013 on financial health of agricultural enterprises in the South Bohemian Region, the Czech Republic. Using two bonity models (the Gurčík Index and the Bonity Index), a solvency calculation is performed on a test set of 296 agricultural enterprises in the South Bohemian Region; the calculation is performed both with and without subsidies. The results follow the solvency changes of enterprises depending on the gained subsidies and their dependency on 3 production areas typical of agricultural enterprises in South Bohemia (mountain area, potato-oats area, potato area). In the end provable dependency of agricultural enterprises on subsidies, mainly in mountain areas, is evaluated, and the necessity of subsidy policy in terms of economic sustainability of tested enterprises, taking into account the meaningful handling of subsidies is confirmed.
