Summary/Abstract: The effort in common for regional development is the main reason for collaboration of municipalities. The current planning of municipalities is associated with sustainable development which is related to the environment and social and economic issues. The ideal solution is considered as the continuous development involves social, environmental, economic and cultural issues‘ solutions. The aim of this paper is to monitor the municipal cooperation in a selected region and the importance of the environment protection for municipalities as well as looking for answers to other closely related issues. The evaluation was conducted based on the results of quantitative and qualitative research in municipalities of a microregion.
