Summary/Abstract: The article examines the creation of the Third Symphony second edition of Borys Lyatoshynsky in the context of the ‘artist – Soviet power’ problem. Moreover, it focuses on the changes in the edited work and its perception by the official authorities and the public. The article reveals the commonalities between the second edition and the stories of Ovid’s Metamorphoses, in particular, the immutability of the phenomenon’s essence after its transformation.
