Summary/Abstract: Economic crime is a serious socio-pathological phenomenon that threatens the ordinary function of the state economy. Losses caused by economic crime are high and have a society-wide impact. Not only publicized cases point to the seriousness of the situation in the Czech and Slovak Republics. However, it is confirmed by the police statistics and surveys of independent agencies. The paper presents the current state of economic crime in the Czech and Slovak Republics on the base of the police statistics and questionnaire survey results and also experience and attitudes of the business community to this problem.
