Opera performances for adults in versions for children

Summary/Abstract: Children’s audiences are also excited by adult operas, despite the availability of operas for children. In order to attract the little ones to these performances, different versions appear, which are of short duration. They contain the most important musical numbers without losing the composer’s main intention. The BBC makes animated versions of several masterpieces of operatic art. In this publication, the subjects to be examined will be Die Zauberflote and Das Rheingold. As another metamorphosis of these subjects, the books of the same name published by Emas can be considered. They are offered together with a CD in which readers can also get acquainted with sound extracts from the operas.
