The first album of an artist in Bulgaria and the metamorphoses of a new art

Summary/Abstract: The article examines the appearance and nature of the first art album for a Bulgarian artist – Album of Cartoons from our Social and Political Life by Alexander Bozhinov (1907), published in Bulgarian printing. It tries to answer several essential questions – why at the beginning of the 20th century a caricaturist managed to publish his album of Bulgarian artists, what is the European model that follows this album, what are the stylistic metamorphoses in the printed cartoons and what are they due to, how does this album differ from the art and folk antiquities albums of the Ministry of Public Education that also appeared during these years and how it fits into the printed output of iconic magazines and newspapers such as Artist and Bulgaran, with which they attract more subscribers.
