Summary/Abstract: The contribution discusses examples of changes that have occurred in art education in the 21st century. The main claim is that the significant “shifts” in terms of art objects and practices are due to a metamorphosis of interest from the humanities to the art market. The dynamics of the situation is amplified by the internet and, nowadays – by artificial intelligence. The specificity of the Bulgarian situation is that, due to the small milieu and the lack of public resources, the much-needed profiled education (for university professors, museum specialists and researchers, as well as for connoisseurs of art objects from different epochs and types, or auctioneers) is not offered.
