Summary/Abstract: After the First World War (1914–1918), the world was not the same as it was before. The metamorphoses it underwent were visible – empires collapsed, new states emerged, new ideologies were born. Technologies, communications, entertainment, fashion, advertising, art are changing... The cinematograph – called for this reason the Great Silence – is reaching its artistic apogee. But its dumbness is short-lived, for it soon hums, whistles, sings, and eventually, like a small but grasping child, speaks... One of the major events in the history of the seventh art during the “RoaringTwenties” is the “Sound Revolution”. Flooding the world, it also reached Bulgaria, where the intensive modernization of cinemas, their equipment with the rapidly entering sound (tone) equipment boiled. This process of technological renewal has an impact on the process of film distribution – a topic that this publication addresses.
