Summary/Abstract: At the 2007 SHINE Conference held in Iaşi in November 2007, Professor Rodica Dimitriu gave a paper about differences between the stage-oriented version of Dragoş Protopopescu's translation (1940) and Leon Leviţchi’s "philological" (i.e. more accurate but hardly performable) translation (1958) of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. This paper may be construed as a sequel to Professor Dimitriu’s article as I approach three recent translations of the same play (Dan Lăzărescu's posthumously published version, dated 2004; Ioana Ieronim's, issued in early 2009; and my own translation, issued in 2010), emphasizing the differences among them.
