A study on a letter from Vasil Levsky to Lyuben Karavelov

Summary/Abstract: The article interprets a personal letter of Vasil Levski (1840–1873) to Lyuben Karavelov (1834–1879), which presents the problems facing the work of the revolutionary. His judgments about the personal qualities of other activists of the national liberation movement are analyzed. His fears that government spies are well informed about conspiratorial work are indicated. The thesis is launched that Vasil Levski had intuitions about the upcoming failures in the revolutionary organization, as well as about the death sentence that awaited him, because of the leadership of the anti-imperial secret organization.
