Summary/Abstract: Micro-credentials, particularly digital badges and Open Badges, are seen as a promising format for lifelong learning. They meet conditions and needs for modularity of learning, collecting and accumulation of achievements, building flexible learning pathways, especially at a distance, and decentralization of education. They offer the possibility of disconnecting and reconnecting (reconfiguring) partial learning outcomes, depending on the needs of the individual and the requirements of the qualification being acquired. The model has been proposed for R&D professionals to collecting and accumulate microcredentials in informal learning (through on-the-job experience), in order to be able to obtain non-formal market qualifications and formal sub-qualifications in the Integrated Qualification System. The model has four levels: bronze (basic), silver (extended), gold (advanced) and platinum (master), which were descriptively defined by three differentiating factors: complexity of the researcher's work, independence of the researcher, responsibility of the researcher. Determinants of the levels of micro-credentials of R&D professionals were proposed in three categories: researcher's knowledge/skills, ability to perform research independently, readiness (intellectual, emotional and moral) to take on a certain type of research responsibility. In the presented model, badges in the Open Badges format can be awarded in 10 categories: 6 substantive (hard) and 4 personalized (soft). They include a wide range of knowledge, intellectual abilities, skills and scientific and research standards expected of those conducting research, as well as the personal qualities needed to work in a team and to disseminate research.
