Summary/Abstract: States can be divided according to different criteria. Regional and unitary states are a special form of state. This division is based on the relationship between central and non-central state authorities. A regional state is a state with such an arrangement that is between a unitary and a federal state and can often be confused with those forms. Whether a country is regional or, on the contrary, unitary, does not mean that there is a certain degree of freedom and democracy in that country, but on the other hand, they can ensure that, what depends on the overall economic and political system of that country. The importance of the state, as well as the fact that its role is increasing with the development of international relations, leads to the need for a more detailed treatment of this issue, bearing in mind today's variety of state forms and connections. The goal of the work is to reach original and comprehensive scientific knowledge about regional and unitary states to enable a better understanding of the complex relations in the international community in which states that differ in many ways, but still have a common trait that is characteristic of all participants, participate. in international politics. Ambiguities and different interpretations of numerous aspects of this topic point to the need for its analysis so that the result is a professional and objective attitude, that is, knowledge.
