Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to describe an original and revolutionary, as for the times, concept of teaching called the Dalton Laboratory Plan or the Dalton Plan, which has been founded by a widely committed, ambitious and humble reformer of world education – Helen Parkhurst. The biography of the founder, the goals of Dalton education, its main assumptions and teachers’ reflections who work in accordance with the Dalton Plan provision in the 1930s are briefly presented. Since its founda- tion, this revolutionary concept of teaching continues to thrive in education and teaching practices, inspiring many involved practitioners, teachers and children to apply this innovative style of work.
