Summary/Abstract: The city of Odorheiu Secuiesc (hun.=Székelyudvarhely) (Harghita county) is geographically located in the eastern part of the Transylvania basin, on the banks of the Târnava Mare river. In 1973, northwest of the city, in the hydrogeological protection zone at Băile Szejke (hun. = Szejkefürdő), Dávid Carol Aladár (from Ilișua, Uriu commune, Bistrița-Năsăud county) has discovered a bronze socketed axe („Transylvanian” type). Based on the typological classification established by Mircea Rusu in 1966, the socketed axe discovered at Băile Szejke is part of the main variant A (subvariant A2).Description: length = 123 mm; width = 38–47 mm; maximum width of the blade = 44 mm; thickness at the middle of the piece = 18 mm; the inside diameters of the shaft-tube = 27–32 mm depth = 71 mm; thickeness at the edge of the shaft-tube = 6 mm; the outer border of the shaft-tube = 7–8 mm. Weight = 355 g. Metal = bronze. Chronological classification: Late Bronze II (Bz.DHaA1).
