Summary/Abstract: Shemuel Shmelke Horovits was the chief representative of Hasidism in Moravia. In 1772 he became rabbi at Mikulov (Nikolsburg) and later on Moravian provincial rabbi. The paper deals with his life, works and Hasidic teachings. It contains numerous quotations from Hasidic literature concerning Shemuel Shmelke Horovits.
