Romanian Piano Music Today Symposium. Carl Maria von Weber Conservatory in Dresden, September 23-25, 2022

Summary/Abstract: When I was invited to participate at the symposium Rumänische Klaviermusik heute [Romanian Piano Music Today], I was surprised by the small number of participants, spread over three days of lectures, and the extremely limited number of topics, but the organisers’ calculations proved to be extremely wise and particularly fruitful. From the beginning, Michael Heinemann from the Carl Maria von Weber Conservatory in Dresden, Violeta Dinescu from the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Valentina Sandu-Dediu from the New Europe College in Bucharest, and Adalbert Grote, a freelance musicologist, conceived a dialogue between the Romanian and German analytical approaches to the same selection of piano works.
