Summary/Abstract: Nicolae Ursu’s exhaustive folklorist creation (covering a vast area-plain and alpine Banat, as well as Transylvania) marked by a profound analysis in the most up-to-date analytical spirit represents significant guide marks for the specific academical education. The same freshness, ingenuity and strength, projections of his componistic art, reveal certainty of perennity. His choral creation thrills through its melodic charm inspired by national folklore thesaurus and authenticity of symmetrical clothing in a balanced tonal modal report, thus succeeding in detecting the peasant folklore. A master of the art of conducting, a mentor of more generations of devoted disciples in the Folklore Department of the University of Timișoara, Nicolae Ursu was, as well, an excellent organizer of memorable cultural events during the proletkultist era (he professionally organized the centenary jubilee of the Chizătău Choir in 1957), expressing lucidity, critical spirit and an unusual moral verticality in a special period of Romania’s history.
