Assumptions of the revitalization of the former industrial housing estate Pszczelnik I in Jaworzno, Poland

Summary/Abstract: The study justifies the recognition of the former Pszczelnik I estate in Jaworzno as a degraded area. For this reason, a revitalization program should be developed for this estate. The authors, on the basis of their own research - analysis of available source materials, interviews with employees of various institutions, non-participatory and participant observation andsurveying of the estate’s residents - identified its most important spatial-functional and socio-economic problems, as well as proposed assumptions for the revitalization concept. In the course of the research, many institutional barriers were encountered, to which the authors tried to pay special attention - solving these barriers would certainly facilitate the process ofdesignating a degraded area, as well as carrying out a possible revitalization of the Pszczelnik estate, and the added value would be easier comparative spatial research in the future in the whole city of Jaworzno.
