Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes in detail the way in which Roman Jakobson (1896–1982) presented Russian Formalism in his 1935 Brno lectures, and points out the important role Jakobson had in later interpretations of Formalism and the Prague School, particularly Victor Erlich’s Russian Formalism (1955).
