Summary/Abstract: The present study brings into discussion the unknown intention of the archaeologist C. S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor to carry out archaeological research in the caves of Cheile Vârghișului. His approach was continued by Lucian Rosu in collaboration with the museum institutions with which C. S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor came into contact in 1965.
