Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to examine the direct experiences of teachers in delivering Islamic religious education in Bosnia and Herzegovina from its introduction and restoration and integration into the educational system, roughly from 1992 to 2002. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews from October 2022 to July 2023. A total of 13 Islamic religious educators from eight muftiyats of the BiH Islamic Community. The pa-per analyzes their responses to questions about the circumstances under which religious education was introduced into schools, their professional qualifications, challenges in teaching, conditions in the workplace, collaboration, and relation-ships with school administrations and other colleagues, the support available or unavailable to them, and interesting anecdotal events. The importance of this study is manifold, as it synthesizes the direct experiences of Islamic religious education teachers from a challenging pre-war, war, and post-war period, which yielded not only a rich heritage but also serves as a source of inspiration for other teachers and researchers interested in this subject matter.
