Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author examines the scope and validity of anti-utilitarian „integrity ar63ument“, proposed by Bernard Williams. This argument includes three interconnected theses: 1) utilitarianism alienates agent from its own actions; 2) utilitarianism does not take into account separateness of different persons; 3) utilitarianism assumes the doctrine of „negative responsibility“. The author analyzes whether the argument needs Williams normative (ethics of virtue) and meta-ethical (internalism) standpoint. The conclusion is that Williams’ anti-utilitarian argument could subsist even without those two presuppositions.
