Summary/Abstract: The RAPEX system (Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products) is a form of public service information for countries and consumers, serving the rapid exchange of information on dangerous non-food products in the European Union and wider European Economic Area. Within the RAPEX system there are notifications relating to the serious risk for the consumer, and other notifications. The purpose of the article was to assess which of the regression models was the most suitable to describe the variability of the number of notifications in the time in the RAPEX system and to carry out prediction based on this model. Data for the study came from the annual reports of the RAPEX system in the years 2003-2012. It was found that the variability of the RAPEX notifications was best described by seconddegree polynomial regression model. It was noted, however, that in the near future the model of third-degree polynomial regression might be more appropriate.
