Summary/Abstract: Scientific autonomy does not in itself lead to the isolation of music in the aesthetic domain. Founded on the coherent network of its own rules, the musical system is able to bend and modify itself under the influence of what is “external” to it: the meaning contained in linguistic statements. The idea of musical representation is then modified in the direction of a possible reconciliation of (Cartesian) reason and creative imagination, of the general and the particular, of the norm and of individuality, to the extent that the musical system, becoming analogous to the linguistic system, as “language in action”, participates each time in the event of its own creation.
