Summary/Abstract: In the examples from Thrace, common features with other domestic sanctuaries from different parts of the empire are noted, but also some peculiarities are seen. The urban complexes include a considerable amount of monuments of clay – statuettes and reliefs of deities, as well as altars, thymiateria, and lamps. Another characteristic feature is the discovery of marble votive tablets with images of Graeco-Roman deities and of the Thracian Horseman. At the villa at Chatalka, one is impressed by the rather large quantity of sculptural monuments – statues smaller than lifesize and a large quantity of votive reliefs. This sanctuary differs from the domestic urban ones, and rather approaches the public extraurban sanctuaries of Thrace. A significant difference in Thrace is the presence in the urban and extraurban complexes of votive reliefs, some accompanied by dedicatory inscriptions. A significant part bears the image of the Thracian Horseman, although there are also examples of Graeco-Roman deities. Apparently votive tablets were considered appropriate in form and meaning to participate in the domestic cult.
