Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to a group of studies by Giovanni Battista Gisleni (1600–1672) containing several different variants of the design for the church of the Discalced Carmelite nuns in Lvov (constructed in 1641–1648 and 1683–1688). It also attempts to establish the role played in the creative process not only by the architect-designer and the regulations of the Order of Discalced Carmelites, but also by the founder who commissioned the work and the requirements set by him.
