Summary/Abstract: The study in this article focuses on the text-critical restitution of Richard Fishacre’s commentary on I Sent. dist. 27, in which certain theological formulas in the Trinitarian field are examined for the formal correctness of their content. In his commentary, Fishacre uses the 12th-century grammarians’ technique of “suppositio” of a term to resolve the ambiguity of certain terms. Thus, for example, the term “imago” can refer to the divine essence as a principle of similitude, but also to the person of the Son as a principle of assimilation.
