Summary/Abstract: This article is a critical review of Carl Schmitt’s political theology, which is based on an interpretation proposed by Heinrich Meier. The author examines the possibility of a conception of political theology in the realm of Christianity. In relation to this there are some observations on the relationship of Christianity to the state and politics, especially concerning the problem of the one who restrains (to katechon) and the difference between the political and the eschatological orders.
