Summary/Abstract: The article seeks to provide a definition of political theology. While it seems that a precise definition, in the strict sense of the term, cannot be given, several issues are raised and possibly clarified. First, there is the question of the urgency of the debate on political theology which is answered positively on the basis of common observation. Second, there appear to be some doubts about the very subject of political theology, which can be described only in a very general way, and accepted with a handful of reservations. Then we must face a philosophical question of the rational meaning of the discourse developed by political theologians, and this leads us to an explanation of the so-called theologico-political problem. Finally, what must be taken into consideration is the peculiarity of the historically prevalent Christian approach towards the problem of political theology.
