Summary/Abstract: Presented paper is divided on four main parts. The introduction recalls the more important, se- lected methods of conducting research in the field of social scientific disciplines (interviews, sur- veys). The next part is devoted to highlighting the specific conditions of education, such as the development of digital technology, and especially - highlighting the effects of COVID 19. These issues are a starting point for presenting the issues of online research, which have developed rap- idly, among others caused by these conditions. The third part of the presented text is an analysis of the research conducted, discussed in 85 master's theses (defended in 2018-2023). The fourth part shows the role of sampling for research and the share of online research on the example of two large educational international research projects, PISA and TALIS. The text documents the grow- ing role of remote research - both in student work and in large international projects. Online re- search has completely replaced or is dominant in both considered reference points.
