Summary/Abstract: The survey contains the analysis of the provisions of Article 169 of the Law on Higher Education No. 199/2023 concerning the meaning of the terms plagiarism (letter d) and self-plagiarism (letter e). The analysis is carried out in comparison with the meaning of these concepts provided for in Article 4(1) (d) and (e) of Law 206/2004 on good conduct in scientific research, technological development and innovation. The many similarities, but also the important differences between the meanings of the terms under these laws support the usefulness of their comparative analysis. The survey is also an exhortation to the legislator to realize the unity of legal significance of plagiarism and self-plagiarism regardless of the field in which the acts are committed.
