Summary/Abstract: Continuing some previous preoccupations, the author intends to reflect on the reign of Gh. D. Bibescu, the prince of Wallachia between 1842-1848, as it was reflected in the well-known newspaper of that time the Allgemeine Zeitung from Augsburg. More than 50 articles of this newspaper concerning his reign, referred mainly to those moments relevant for the political life and the debut of the parliamentarian life. Placed under the suzerainty of the Ottoman Empire and the domination of the Czarist Russia, the designated protective power, Wallachia continued its modernizing process under Gh. D. Bibescu, a conservator and authorial but at the same enlightened and reformist prince. In June 1848, when the Danubian province entered the flow of the European revolution, Gh. Bibescu refused to take the risks and responsibilities involved by the leadership of a revolutionary regime, of structural transformations and the open affirmation of the aspirations of liberty, and fled to Transylvania.
